🦎 Not all magical messengers come in visions… sometimes they show up in your garage during a thunderstorm.
🌧 Last night my husky tried to lick a salamander during a thunderstorm… and that’s how I met Sammy.
In the middle of heavy rain, thunder, and lightning, my boyfriend found a tiny spotted salamander wandering through our garage.
Naturally, I named him Sammy.
Now here’s the funny part…
Spotted salamanders have a mild toxin that basically tastes like the worst bitter candy imaginable.
So when our husky decided Sammy might be a midnight snack…
Sammy politely informed her otherwise.
Immediately.
No harm done — just a very offended husky and one victorious salamander.
But here’s where the magic comes in...
Spotted salamanders only emerge during powerful spring storms.
They live underground most of the year, hidden beneath the forest floor, waiting for the exact right conditions — heavy rain, darkness, and soaked earth.
When the storm hits?
They rise and begin their journey to water to start the cycle of life again.
In folklore and alchemy, salamanders were believed to be elemental creatures of transformation, appearing when the elements shift and energy changes.
Honestly… that symbolism feels pretty accurate.
Storms have always felt like cleansing energy to me.
A release of pressure.
A clearing of what has been building.
And right in the middle of that storm…
Here comes Sammy.
🦎 Messages from the Spotted Salamander
• Emergence after a hidden
season
• Trusting the timing of nature
• Renewal after tension releases
• Transformation through
elemental forces
• Moving forward when the storm.
clears the path
Sometimes we spend a long time underground — growing, waiting, preparing.
Then the storm comes.
And suddenly it’s time to move.
So if life feels like it’s been building energy lately…
Maybe you're just in your Sammy the Salamander moment.
Waiting for the rain.
Waiting for the signal.
And when it comes?
Move.
