Sacred Tool Kit: The Medicine of the Squirrel

Small hands. Full heart. Sacred preparation.

There is something deceptively simple about the squirrel.

Quick. Alert. Always moving.

Easy to overlook.

But the squirrel is not scattered.

It is intentional.

And if it has crossed your path—especially in a moment of pause, observation, or curiosity—it is not random.

It is a messenger of preparation, resourcefulness, and energetic stewardship.

The Spiritual Medicine of the Squirrel

The squirrel carries the wisdom of:

  • Preparation without panic

  • Gathering without hoarding

  • Movement with awareness

  • Trust in future provision

It lives between seasons—never fully in lack, never fully in excess.

It teaches:

You do not need to scramble…

You need to prepare with intention.

Where Are You Stockpiling?

Squirrel medicine gently asks:

  • Where are you over-giving and under-saving your energy?

  • What are you consuming that isn’t actually nourishing you?

  • Are you preparing for your next season… or avoiding it?

Because here’s the truth:

You are always gathering something-

energy, knowledge, habits, beliefs.

The question is…

👉 Will what you’re gathering sustain you later?

The “Energetic Reserve” Practice

This is your squirrel work.

You will need:

  • A small bowl or jar

  • A few physical items to represent “resources” (coins, herbs, stones, etc.)

  • Your intention

The Practice:

Sit quietly and ground yourself.

Hold each item and assign it a meaning:

  • Energy

  • Time

  • Boundaries

  • Self-worth

As you place each item into the bowl, speak:

“I choose to store what sustains me.”

When finished, place the bowl somewhere visible.

This becomes your energetic reserve—

a reminder that you are allowed to save yourself for yourself.

Shadow Aspect of the Squirrel

Every medicine has its imbalance.

When distorted, squirrel energy becomes:

  • Anxiety

  • Scarcity mindset

  • Over-preparing / never resting

  • Distrust in receiving

If this resonates, the message is NOT: “Do more.”

It is:

“You are safe to pause. What you have is enough for now.”

When Squirrel Appears Repeatedly

This is a threshold message.

You are being asked to:

  • Get intentional about what you’re building

  • Stop leaking energy into things that don’t return

  • Trust that your future self is worth preparing for

Not from fear.

From self-respect.

Closing Invocation

Place your hand over your heart and say:

“I gather with intention.

I store what sustains me.

I trust in my provision—now and to come.”

Squirrel does not wait for winter to arrive before it prepares.

Neither should you wait for burnout…

for loss…

for depletion…

to begin choosing yourself.
